Job Summary: Supervises the production team and coordinates the activities in the production area to produce finished products at target specifications, maximize operational efficiencies and ensure the safety of all employees.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
· Lead specific production area, supervise staff, ensure that focus on safety, quality, on time delivery, and cost is maintained.
· Ensuring that all safety processes are followed and support safety program and improvement project implementation.
· Supervise employees to ensure attendance and punctuality meet standard expectations.
· Ensure that product quality goals and targets are achieved.
· Ensure that master schedule is followed, work with Master Scheduler to improve efficiencies, establish basic department capacities based on staffing and training levels.
· Understanding work order sheets and flagging any BOM discrepancies.
· Root cause investigation of errors that occurred within the department and developing plan to prevent repeat errors.
· Provide feedback on needed equipment and expense items to appropriate approver and Purchasing Department.
· Works closely with Production Manager to implement new safety and cost savings processes within the work area.
· Manage teams and employees to achieve and grow in to defined job description performance metrics.
· Basic housekeeping duties to ensure a safe and efficient workspace.
· Other duties as assigned by your manager.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· Interview prospective employees and choose the best applicant based on skills, knowledge, and abilities required for the job.
· Train and supervise Packaging staff.
· Direct assigned tasks and provide assistance as needed.
· Complete performance evaluations.
· Review and approve timecards and ensure employees follow all clock in/clock out procedures.
· Review and approve PTO requests, ensuring proper coverage is attained.
· Enforce company policies.
· Document employee relations issues and partner with Production Manager and HR as necessary.
Required Skills/Education/Abilities:
· High School diploma or GED required
· Ability to read, write, and communicate in English and Spanish
· Good time management skills are required
· Basic chemistry knowledge preferred but not required (pH, acid/alkaline and neutralization, solubility, familiarity with industrial chemicals). This knowledge is acquired during training on the job.
· Five or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferably in Production Leadership
· Must have the ability to hold employees accountable and ensure processes and rules are being followed.
· Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles.
· Previous supervisory experience is a must.
Physical Requirements:
· Must have ability to lift 30 – 60 pounds occasionally
· Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
